He received his medical degree from University of Kansas School of Medicine,interned in New York at a Cornell affiliate,and completed his psychiatric training at the University of California Medical School in San Francisco,becoming their Chief resident and has remained on the teaching faculty. He has been in practice for 50 years. Dr. Dusay Is a co founder of the International Transactional Analysis Association Specializing in couples and family therapy.He also did original research on Ritalin used for attention deficit disorder. Dr. Dusay has lectured at universities and therapy institutions in 22 countries.
Dr. Dusay has a flat rate for first evaluations, and then provides a sliding scale to adjust the rate for each following session.

I first met with Jack Dusay as a patient in 1971 almost 50 years ago! He still has the same phone number and address today as he had then. Talk about longevity and he's an amazing doctor! We recently had a zoom appointment and he really packed a lot into our appointment. He's like fine wine - he just gets better with time!

Very patient and understanding. Dr. John truly takes the time to listen and ask meaningful questions. I was extremely nervous this being my first time seeing a psychiatrist and he made me feel so comfortable. I would highly recommend.

It is quite clear that from the first two sessions Dr Dusay does not endorse the typical roles imposed by other psychiatrists, his approach is an alternative to the stereotypical interaction between Doctor and patient. Some incredibly honorable attributes of his is he exhibits purity of emotion.
His ability to connect with me intellectually but also in a friendly manner with a very humorous tone is what stands out. He sympathizes, or better yet, empathizes, with the patient and immediately offers a solution for change, an alternative to the typical stereotypes and expectations other doctors have.
He offers a break of the usual, by virtue of not belonging in the mindset of just listening, but supports the patient with constant feedback. Overall he manages to win his patient over by engaging more with the patient’s issues and actually spends more time analyzing your thoughts than the other way around, where you are doing all the talking.
Lastly, Dr Dusay has a fascinating way to critique you as well, in a way though where he is doing it, in order for the patient to understand that if he/she does not comply with them, they will suffer because of them.

Dr. Dusay is lovely. This was my first visit with him and he really took the time to get to know me and my history. He was also great about sharing about himself, which helped my the appointment very comfortable. Never once did he make it feel like we were in a rush, in actuality it was the exact opposite - there was plenty of time to talk. Very different from my psychiatrist appointments I have experienced in the past. I highly recommend.

Dr. Dusay is the best there is. He is highly respected in his field and could easily charge outrageous fees, but he is very reasonable. He is brilliant, kind, and an excellent doctor. He is just delightful, too! I felt better understood by this remarkable man than I have by any doctor in quite some time. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Jack Dusay provides support, insight and care - both in terms of transactional therapy and medication. He is accessible for quick tune-ups over the phone as well as for longer face-to-face visits. Jack is a compassionate man who works with me to find solutions, and he sets the bar for the highest ethical standards.
