Dr. Hochman was positively one of the kindest doctors and was a bright spot in an otherwise not-so-great day. I would highly recommend him to anyone. After being referred by my insurance company to six other practices that were in close proximity to my home only to be told they weren't taking new patients or I wouldn't be able to get an appointment for three more months, I feel fortunate I was able to find him.
Dr Hochman really cares about you. When you are talking with him you really feel like you are the most important person in his world.

He's asking me what I want prescribed!? You can only imagine why he had to rename his previous business listing on Yelp!
I had a great experience. Easy to talk to. Helpful. I will continue to see him.
Extremely professional and highly intelligent. Beyond impeccable credentials.
Great doc, very insightful. Knows his stuff and was clear with his diagnosis.
Very nice and knowledgeable. Excited to continue treatment with him.
Gets the job done. He's a bit older and moves slow but he's smart.

He was rude and just plain AWFUL. Run far away from this doctor as he has no regard for anyone's interests but his own. I couldn't believe with all his degree's that he could act so unprofessionally. Really surprising and disappointing experience that showed he really only cares about money and not the patients.
I think he should have retired a long time ago & no wonder he makes you pay him in cash before starting your appointment. He's outdated & was a huge disappointment, I will never go back & highly recommend that you don't either.
Extremely helpful, patient and professional.
Dr Hochman really cares about you. When you are talking with him you really feel like you are the most important person in his world.
Professional and knowledgable
Rude and lazy doctor. I needed a prior authorization for one medication and he was frustrated that he had to call my insurance company so he hung up on me 3 times. Finally called them after a week of me asking him to. This was after he had initially prescribed me a dose that the medication doesn't even come in, so I had to drive back to his office for a new prescription. Took me over three weeks to get my medication. I don't know how he even has a license to practice medicine. Easily the worst psychiatrist I have ever seen and will never be going back.
John himself greeted me and spoke with me. The other negative reviews online reflect people who come to such an expert with unrealistic expectations and improper health coverage. Great guy. He gave me excellent advice and I will be following it. Don't come here for services that he does not provide - read the website.
Dr. Hochman listened to my description of what my issues are and added his own insight into possible ways to deal with the situation. We agreed on what I think is the answer to helping me.
This was my first time visiting Dr. Hochman, and it was a very positive experience! He was friendly, professional, and prompt. He didn't try to rush through the appointment and took the time to get to know me instead of just writing a RX and sending me out the door like some psychiatrists. He asked questions about my life and background, and took this information into account when formulating a treatment plan. I left with the impression that he genuinely cares about his patients. Being able to book an appointment and fill out forms online was an added bonus. I will definitely be back!
Total scam
His questions did not relate at all whatsoever to my disorder, in fact every time I talked about my disorder he disregarded it and would ask me another question completely unrelated. He was not professional right off the bat. He diagnosed me with a disorder mid appointment and said I needed treatment but would not give it to me for reason that "my life story was too unusual," but he stated that if I came back in a week or two he'd give me treatment… obviously he was only doing it for the money and therefor is not a good psychiatrist and I would 10/10 not recommend.
He was awesome
Changed my appointment time after already booked. I came in due to the fear of a manic break and he told me to go to AA. I don't drink alcohol by the way -- it was awful and this doctor seemed like he was on a personal crusade against me. I don't know what I did to offend. I am actually writing an ethics complaint right now to the APA. I would recommend that ZocDoc remove this individual from their side -- he is literally dangerous and I fear for other patients health.
My visit was pleasant and to the point. No time was wasted waiting around, and the Dr., who specializes in ADD, is very knowledgeable and competent in evaluating whether or not the medication prescribed was working properly. I especially enjoy the fact that he never overbooks. He understands that the patients time is valuable as well.
Dr. Hochman was able to diagnose something that had slipped by others for years. Listened to what I had to say and gave diagnosis without judgement, and he came up with a viable treatment plan I'm excited to begin. Very much appreciate his attention and his focus.
Always a pleasure
