More about Dr. John Ryan, MD
Dr. Ryan is a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist specializing in the treatment of intestinal and liver diseases. He has a unique background that has allowed him to develop a broad array of interests in general gastroenterology, including therapeutic endoscopy.
Dr. Ryan obtained a degree in biology at Stanford University, followed by a medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Following his Internal Medicine residency, he completed his gastroenterology training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His training afforded him the opportunity to spend a year as an AASLD Liver Fellow.
He went on to serve as assistant director of hepatology and liver transplantation at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and subsequently as director of hepatology at the University of Nevada. In the latter role, he was instrumental in starting the gastroenterology training program there. He continues to take an active role in the education of medical students and residents. He also continues to publish research. One of his particular interests is maximizing the safety of colon cancer screening.
In 2015, having noted a need for high quality specialty care in Nevada, Dr. Ryan and his partners established CDIN. At CDIN he is involved in the care of patients with a variety of gastrointestinal issues and he performs the full array of endoscopic procedures. He focuses on his passion, which is general gastroenterology.
He is currently licensed to practice in Nevada, California and Arizona, and holds staff appointments at hospitals in multiple states. He is also a founding partner of CDIN. Dr. Ryan maintains ABIM certification in gastroenterology.
