I was satisfied with the appointment. Had some issues finding the location (my own fault). The office was very busy and I was almost late, definitely not early, so had to wait for a while. Appointment was thorough, pleased with the discussion and outcome of my visit.

My dad was on vacation in the US and had a tripple bypass surgery and we needed a doctor to oversee his recovery from the surgery. Dr. Sunew took the time to understand what my dad went through. He was pleasant and reasonable, he listened to all of our questions, some were probably not heart related but we didn't know and he showed patience in dealing with us.

Dr. Sunew is triple-board-certified in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Disease, and Nuclear Cardiology. He is listed among Top Doctors 2015 in both HTexas Magazine and Houstonia Magazine. He was born in Connecticut and grew up in New York state. Dr. Sunew attended Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts and went on to earn his medical degree at State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn in New York. He then completed his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at The George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC. He fulfilled his interventional cardiology fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.
Prior to moving in 2011 to Katy, Texas, Dr. Sunew practiced interventional cardiology for ten years in northern Virginia. He held many leadership roles with the Inova Health System, including Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Inova Alexandria Hospital and Chairman of the Inova Cardiology Quality Steering Committee. He was also Regional Leader for northern Virginia in the Virginia Heart Attack Coalition. He was also involved in several clinical research trials and academic publications.
Dr. Sunew is able to offer the latest and most innovative treatments in cardiology, interventional cardiology, and peripheral vascular disease. He offers expertise in complex coronary angioplasty procedures and peripheral arterial angioplasty. He also treats venous disease of the legs. His non-invasive skills include transesophageal echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. Another unique service offered by Dr. Sunew includes transradial cardiac catheterization which has less risk and improved comfort for the patient.

Based on reviews, I expected a very different practice. I've been seen/treated for 20 years by 4 Cardiologists and I was frustrated to learn my Echo required a separate visit. The the tech was friendly, but the equipment used was antiquated at best. On my third visit, he recommended I no longer take the medication I had been on for the last 20 years, that I had been "misdiagnosed" with Mitral Valve Prolapse.
I'm no Cardiologist, but I've seen my Echo's, seen the "floppy valve" and the "regurgitation", so I questioned his review. He assured me the technology had been misleading. My gut said he didn't read the full report, but I agreed to stop the medication anyway.
The withdrawals were terrible and I called back to the office, insisting that there was a problem. I was offered a chance to come back in and wear a monitor-something I've done several times in 20 years and didn't need to do again. No short term solutions, just the typical more tests, no immediate appointments, more billing opportunities.
I asked if they had contacted my previous Cardiologist for my records. When I was told no, I knew I was not going to return. I requested a copy of my echo and the doctors notations for my personal records. Interestingly, the echo I received had NO DOCTORS NOTATIONS.
Complete waste of time and energy. Huge disappointment.

I wasn't clear upon arriving that the paperwork I was given was to be completed before I went in to see Dr. Sunew. At the same time, I was given a small evaluation sheet and told to deposit it as I leave. This was the reason for the delay. Dr. Sunew was very thorough and professional, and I look forward to having him treat my cardiac concerns.
