Everything went smoothly except the wait to see someone about getting a new prescription. I think that wait was for the patients who pick frames. As I had no intention to do that, the wait was unnecessary and not desired. An intake question maybe could be: "If you get a new prescription, will you be getting new frames (yes, no, undecided)?." The initial tests were implemented by the assistant who was very nice and did everything efficiently. Dr. Johnson similarly was nice and was good about explaining everything she asked me to do and also helpful with any questions I had.

“The eyes are incredible. Through a comprehensive vision exam, we are able to assess for ocular diseases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration. But the eyes also provide a window to systemic health and we can gain insight on diseases including diabetes and hypertension.”
“One of the reasons I love what I do is because I am able to cater my exam to the specific needs of the patient. I enjoy taking the time to understand their visual needs so I can educate and make recommendations accordingly.”
Dr. Johnson was born in Winnipeg, Canada and grew up in Happy Valley, Oregon. At a young age recognized the gratification that comes with helping others. Throughout school she was active in several sports as well as volunteer groups. After graduating from Clackamas High School she moved to New York and attended Utica College. While there, she played on the women’s ice hockey team, was active in the Asa Gray Biology Society and co-founded the college’s Pre-Med Club. At the time she did not know what career path to take but recognized that the college needed an organization to support and educate students on the many health care options available. Dr. Johnson decided to become an optometrist after seeing what a large impact they have on improving their patient’s quality of life.

Dr Johnson was professional, pleasant, and knowledgable - no complaints about her.
Despite my appointment being at 8:30am, the clinic was not as clean as one would hope for a medical facility (the restroom trash was overflowing and the hand soap empty, and the trash in exam room hadn't been emptied either).
No health records were obtained prior to my visit - I have a family history of glaucoma and cataracts - eye health is a priority and history is important in obtaining a full picture of health status.
Exam equipment was old technology. Dr recommended dilation for the most thorough exam - I agreed. And even though she commented on my eyes being "blond" and commented on how this would increase light sensitivity, no one offered me sunglasses after dilation, including during my follow-up with optician in the bright lobby area.
Overall, this poor experience will result in my finding another clinic for future care.

Dr. Johnson was nice, professional, and explained everything we were testing as she was testing it. The wait time was non-existent—I was seen right away. The front office staff were all courteous. One of the best eye doctors I've ever been to.

I would not give 4 out of 5 stars for a "less then 30" wait time. I think I waited 15. On one hand I can understand how things in a doctors office can arrise and cause delays. On the other hand, most of the doctors offices I've been seeing the last few years seem to be getting the timing thing down pretty tight. That said, I was very happy with Dr. Johnson and her assistant. Both were very approachable and gave me the time I'd expect (possibly delaying others after me!) Consider me a regular!

I've been going to Optometrist's since I was ten years old, and this was the first time ever I've had an eye doctor explain my eyes to me so well and so clearly. I'm a student, server, and designer so my eyesight is very important to me, and for her to take that into consideration and explain the best ways for me to maintain my eyesight was just amazing. Added bonus was that she laughed at my jokes. Highly recommend!

Doctor Johnson was pleasant and professional. Office staff was a bit rude and did not answer all of my questions to my satisfaction.
Equipment and procedures are quite outdated (peripheral vision test & dilation) and I have been to other offices in the recent past that have newer and better technology for gauging eye health. They do not have any trial lenses to check if changing prescription is worth it for you and I had to go based on their verbal recommendation only.
