I appreciated his concern about my medical issue. I wish he would have returned to discuss my abnormal EKG instead of sending in the MA with a script to go to the hospital for an echo . Now I have to wait a few days for my labs and echo result .

Dr. Joseph Zitar is an Arizona native. He attended Arizona State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 1991.
He attended medical school at the University of Arizona where he graduated in 1996. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in downtown Phoenix. In his final year, he served as chief resident. Dr. Zitar became Board Certified in Internal Medicine in 1999 and re-certified in 2010. He is a member of the Arizona Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians.
Over the last 12 years, Dr. Zitar has worked in internal medicine in various roles. He started out as a Hospitalist at Good Samaritan Regional Center and later supervised and trained internal medicine residents. He worked for a private hospitalist group and then joined Desert Vista Medical Associates in 2005 when it was founded. He started his outpatient practice at that time.
Today, Dr. Zitar continues to see patients in the office and also works as a hospitalist. He believes that eating right and being as active as one can be is the best way to stay healthy and age well.
Dr. Zitar is married and has four children. In his free time, you can always find him exercising. He frequently competes in marathons and triathlons.
