More about Joseph Stabley, PA
Joe Stabley is one of our nationally certified Physician Assistants. He completed his undergraduate degree in Health Care Science from the University of Colorado in 2011. Shortly thereafter, Joe was accepted into the highly competitive Interservice Physician Assistant Program which was developed through the Department of Defense and accredited by the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Upon completion, he was awarded a Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree and commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the US Army.
Prior to the pursuit of higher education, he gained invaluable life experience out of high school by enlisting in the military to "see the world". Global engagement with vulnerable populations lead to a greater understanding of human suffering. Personal stories from peacekeeping missions, humanitarian crisis relief, and combat operations helped shape his perspective on life. This ultimately set the stage for a higher calling into the field of mental health and addiction. His 21 years of military service concluded with certification as a Master Resilience Trainer prior to retirement. This program was developed at the Positive Psychology Center at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania.
As a PA, Joe has also worked in variety of settings to include traditional roles in Urgent Care and Emergency Medicine. Knowledge in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine was gained in both private practice as well as the CA state prison system. Care for the homeless population in LA County and treating refugees crossing the US-Mexico border were two of the most humbling experiences of his life. Finally, volunteering for testing and vaccination support with a non-profit during the COVID pandemic was essential before returning to work in the drug and alcohol rehab industry.
