Dr. Joseph Yellin is a native New Yorker who received his medical degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, Iowa. He interned at the United States Public Health/Services Hospital in Staten Island, NY and completed his neurology residency at the Kings County-State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He has been in private practice in New York City for more than 20 years.
Dr. Yellin is an attending physician at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York Community Hospital and Beth Israel Hospital. He has served as the Chief of Neurology and Acting Medical Director of New York Community Hospital and was a member of the Ethics and Professional Conduct and Quality Improvement Committees at New York Methodist Hospital.

Dr. Yellin was EXTREMELY rude to me during my first (and last) visit. He asked questions in an aggressive, agitated tone. He appeared to have been upset that I didn’t come to the visit with my prior test results, even though I was not asked to bring them. He also became unreasonably frustrated when I said I was not under a orthopedics doctor care, and was still seeing a physical therapist. WHY WOULD THESE THINGS UPSET HIM?? He sat quickly firing off questions in this aggressive manner until I stood and exited his office. I never received any treatment from Dr Yellin that day. I still have much pain in both hands and feet. And now I must search for a new neurologist. As a disabled senior. I dont want to think this was racially motivated, However, I was the only person of color (African American), in his office that day, and the only one leaving almost in tears. I was appalled at Dr. Yellin's unprovoked rudness. I do not recommend him, and will never make another appointment with him.
