The visit was thorough and I felt my needs were met. Although, I had a long wait time, it appreciated that she took time to hear my concerns, answer my questions and follow up with appropriate testing for issues that needed to be addressed.

Dr. Owusu-Sakyi graduated with a BSc in Biology Summa Cum Laude from the Virginia Commonwealth University in 1994. She subsequently attended The University of Virginia School of Medicine and graduated in 1998. Thereafter she underwent extensive residency training at the Sinai Hospital/ Johns Hopkins Hospital Program in Internal Medicine. During this time she was trained in inpatient, outpatient (ambulatory medicine) and nursing home care. She completed her residency training in 2001 and has been a hospitalist at Medstar Health’s Franklin Square Hospital Center for almost 10 years.
Whiles at Franklin Square Hospital, Dr. Owusu-Sakyi gained the respect of administration, her colleagues and patients alike. As an attending physician, she was involved in Resident Medical Education and Supervision of Physician Assistants. In 2005, Dr. Owusu-Sakyi became the Associate Director of the Hospitalist Group at Franklin Square Hospital Center.
In 2009, Dr. Owusu-Sakyi won Pillar Physician at Franklin Square Hospital Center. This is one of the most prestigious physician awards in Franklin Square Hospital. Nominations for this award were actually set in motion by Dr. Owusu-Sakyi’s patients who frequently made it known during post-discharge follow-up calls that the doctor is empathetic, caring, knowledgeable and professional. She takes the time to explain disease processes, lab results and plan of care to her patients. Dr. Owusu-Sakyi’s patients become partners in their own healthcare and her patients love it. They say “she cares and it shows”.
