Getting to know Ruphina Nnebedum

Highly motivated, compassionate, caring, goal-oriented, and board-certified healthcare provider with over fifteen years of combined experience in healthcare services. I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner devoted to clients' wellbeing, safety, and positive outcomes by paying close attention to details and utilizing therapeutic and diagnostic skills to positively impact and improve people's holistic health. I earned my first degree, a BA, from Imo State University, Nigeria, before migrating to the USA, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bowie State University. After years of working in different areas of healthcare and acquiring excellent skills and experience, I earned my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from Walden University, specializing in psychiatric and mental health. By seeking help today, you are one step closer to a new you-one who feels empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being. As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, my goal is to help you achieve holistic well-being and maintain your normal daily life and activities in the community. Mental illness is like any medical condition; everyone has one or more issues they are dealing with, but together we can overcome them.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My philosophy is that nobody is perfect. We all have something we are dealing with. Together we can work on them . With a positive mind set, I use CBT as a tool to help my clients reach their goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I want the clients to tell me more than just the issues that they want to address. I want to get a good history and complete picture of what has transpired, from childhood to adulthood, I want to understand the whole process and tie it back to the present.

Very accepting! Professional, obviously cares about patient wellness!

Very transactional appointment rather than talk therapy. If you just need medication management then this is OK, but all the questions were very robotic with long pauses so she could type what I said word for word. Not conversational and the entire appointment was going over history.
First, this was booked as an in-person appointment but she called and said it was actually telehealth which my insurance doesn’t cover so I had to pay out of pocket. Second, after a brief assessment, she tried to change a documented diagnosis I’ve had for 4 years and refused to listen to me when I told her a medication she wanted to continue me on wasn’t working. She was not empathetic and insisted on talking to me like I was a child or trying to trick her. It was strange and made me feel like trash.

My first initial meeting was great. I made another appointment and she did not show up. I tried calling the office but was reached to voicemail. I did not appreciate this response.

The doctor is amazing. She’s very meticulous yet natural in remembering details of my life and weaved into it the conversation really nicely. It’s the little things that honestly make me feel like I matter. Highly recommend.

The appointment itself was ok, but everything went south when it came to paying my copay. The lack of professionalism was unexpected. Ruphina only accepts zelle for payments which is fine, but I kept getting an error message from zelle saying the nickname was invalid. I saved her info in zelle exactly as it showed, but whenever I tried to send, the error came up. I asked ruphina if she could send a zelle request & I’d simply pay it, but she said her office couldn’t do zelle invoices. If you use zelle you know it’s just a matter of selecting the request button. I asked if she accepted cashapp since I kept getting the error (I sent her multiple images & recordings of me using zelle & getting the error so she could see I was trying) & she said it works for everyone, I don’t know why you’re having a problem. Anyway she gave me her cash up & I paid & that was it. No thank you no acknowledgment, nothing. After several days of that drama & me actively reaching out to try to fix it. Rude

Great listening, great explanations. It was easy to feel seen & heard, but Dr. Nnebedum responds with such empathy & sincerity that you truly feel you are in good hands with someone who cares about helping people. She is even able to hit the nail on the head despite my rambling, which shows her skill! Recommend!

Dr.Nnebedum is a caring, well spoken, sweet therapist. I am glad I am one of her patients. I feel so down sometimes until she talks me into taking control of my life and emotions. I want to cry and sometimes get teary eyed with her sometimes.
