What I love about being a doctor is that I am constantly unraveling little mysteries and problem solving. If I have an interesting case, it doesn’t leave my mind until I can get to the bottom of things and figure out the best strategy for what’s going on. I also love kids and watching them develop. I feel like there is wonder in even the tiniest of things. Experiencing that as a parent has been really helpful for counseling families. A lot of healthy, normal things that you don’t learn about in medical school, you learn by parenting. I know how much a child’s illness can impact the family, every day. So, I really try to understand where the families are at. I don’t just give out medicine and say, “Okay, that’ll do it.” I am so glad when parents bring me their questions and issues.
