About Dr. Julie Jefferson

Dr. Jefferson specializes in Mohs surgery, nail disease, medical and cosmetic dermatology. She is board certified in Dermatology and Mohs surgery. A South Carolina native, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Erskine College and her Doctorate of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina. She then completed her residency training in Dermatology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Jefferson completed fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at the world-renowned dermatology department of the University of British Columbia. In addition, she completed fellowship training in Nail Disease and Nail Surgery at the Oregon Dermatology and Research Center and a Clinical Research and Clinical Trials Fellowship in Baltimore, MD at Johns Hopkins University. She is the only dermatologic surgeon in the nation to have this combination of training. While involved in clinical research at Johns Hopkins, she served on the Council of Science and Research for the American Academy of Dermatology. She has also presented research and lectured nationally and internationally and has published in peer-reviewed journals. She has served as the Interim Mohs Director for the MetroHealth Hospital System, a Case Western teaching hospital, and as an Adjunct Assistant Professor for the Department of Dermatology at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Jefferson is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of Mohs Surgery and a member of the Council for Nail Disorders.

Very thorough on checking for skin cancer
I've only had positive experiences with Advanced Dermatology thus far, and I've been really happy with the help they've provided to me. I've received help figuring out that I have rosacea, along with being prescribed a medication that helps manage it much better than I was doing on my own. Additionally, I recently had a basal cell carcinoma skin cancer spot removed by Advanced Dermatology, and the entire process has gone very smoothly. The I really like that that they have an online patient portal, for payments, scheduling appointments, viewing test results. Lastly, everyone I've spoken with has been patient, friendly, and helpful.

Respectfulness and professionalism
The post op instructions said to call the office and press 3 for an emergency. DOing this only gave recorded message of office location. Ther was no way to talk to a human. Every attempt went to voice mail. The reason I needed to talk to some was that my prescription for pain meds after Mohs wasnt called in. My wife had to drive back to the office in order to get the prescription called in. It was almost 4 hours after the procedure that I got the medication.
