My first visit I was not sure about Dr. Dexter. After that I changed my opinion and found him to be very kind and caring. I would recommend Dr. Dexter to anyone who needs an eye specialist. I am excited to have Dr. Dexter as my doctor, and hope to remain as his patient.

Dr. Justin Dexter is originally from Oswego, NY. He attended college at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts where he earned his degree in Biochemistry. He then earned his M.D. from SUNY Upstate Medical University, where he also completed his internship in Internal Medicine. Dr. Dexter then completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Nassau University Medical Center and SUNY Stony Brook University, where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Dexter is a third generation health care provider. His grandfather Marvin Dexter practiced general medicine in Fulton, NY for his entire professional career. His father David Dexter is still in practice in optometry, in Oswego, NY.
Since finishing his formal training, Dr. Dexter has been in private practice in the Syracuse area starting in 2011. He has focused his surgical practice on cataract and refractive surgery using the most up to date and advanced methods.
Dr. Dexter is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is an associate professor of ophthalmology at SUNY Upstate Medical Center where he takes an active role in teaching resident doctors. He is also a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
In 2014 Dr. Dexter joined Dr. Lawrence Stewart and his practice at Eye Surgeons of Central New York. Their goal is to continue the high quality care currently delivered, for many years to come.
