More about Dr. Kanao Otsu, MD
Kanao Otsu, M.D., M.P.H., recently joined Allergy & Asthma Care and Prevention Center after completing her fellowship in Allergy, Asthma, and immunology at National Jewish Health and the University of Colorado Denver. Her fellowship research focused on characterizations of potent peanut allergens to better understand how individuals recognize the allergens in a specific manner. Her publications have included an article about peanut allergies and an article describing desensitization to food allergies.
Dr. Otsu was born in Japan and was reared in California. She received her B.A. at Reed College and her M.D. from The Medical School in international Health, Ben-Gurion University/Columbia University, living both in Israel and in New York City. Part of her studies led her to Kenya, where she focused on international medicine and has since earned a Masters in Public Health degree from Columbia University.
Prior to moving to Denver in 2008, Dr. Otsu completed a residency in a combined internal medicine and pediatrics program at the University of Massachusetts. She and her husband live in Stapleton with their three young children. The family remains avid travelers.
Throughout her career, Dr. Otsu has been an enthusiastic and caring physician for her patients. She is excited and eager to participate in the practice of quality, evidence-based medicine at her new post here at Allergy & Asthma Care and Prevention Center.
