She attended Duke University for her Bachelors, followed by a medical doctorate and residency in ObGyn at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. She is trained in comprehensive Obstetrics and Gynecology care and has been with the practice for over four years. Her special interests include minimally invasive and robotic surgery, PCOS, infertility evaluation, and menstrual disorders. She is also fluent in Spanish.

I've been to Dr. Toomey multiple times and feel comfortable approaching her with problems. She and her staff listen carefully to your concerns and take time to explain them. Personally, I like having procedures explained to me in great detail before they're done, and she made sure I knew what she was doing and why.

I think I'm a difficult gynecology patient (lots of anxiety) and I definitely feel comfortable returning to this office for future needs after my first visit. The nurse who brought me back was very nice and made me laugh, which put me at ease. Dr. Matta-Toomey spent time with me in her office before the actual exam to go over the multitude of gynecological concerns I had in addition to my health history; this was more comfortable to me than trying to discuss issues in the exam room. The exam itself went fine and she investigated things more thoroughly than other doctors have in the past. I appreciated her willingness to be frank and ask somewhat difficult questions related to my concerns.

My visit with Karen Matta-Toomey was really good. It was my first time there to her office. I forgot to fill out paperwork so that is why it took a little longer in the waiting room. Jessica(I think that was her name) took me right in very friendly. Dr. Karen made me feel like a friend, I was very comfortable talking to her. Yes I will definitely go back next year for my physical.
