After graduating from Cornell University, Dr. Scarpulla received her M.D. from Northwestern University Medical School where she also interned and completed her ophthalmology residency, serving as chief resident. Dr. Scarpulla then completed a fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases at UIC Eye Center. As a board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Scarpulla is a clinical instructor at Northwestern University and a member of numerous professional societies including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the American College of Eye Surgeons.
Dr. Scarpulla is one of the first surgeons in Chicago trained in laser vision correction, Intacs and refractive cataract surgery. She was named by the Consumers Research Council of America as one of the country's top ophthalmologists in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
