More about Dr. Kenneth Karp, MD
Kenneth Karp MD is the medical director of Miramar Eye Institute and the LasikPlus Vision Center. Dr. Karp grew up in Miami, and later attended the University of Michigan, where he received both his B.S. and his M.D. degrees.
After completing his ophthalmology residency at the University Of Chicago, he then went on to complete an additional year-long fellowship in Corneal and Refractive surgery at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago.
As part of his academic activities, he has performed research, written papers, and lectured extensively on the field of ophthalmology. Furthermore, he serves as a Voluntary Assistant Professor at the world renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
Dr. Karp has enjoyed performing thousands of laser vision correction surgeries, and is one of the leading refractive surgeons in South Florida. His modern office is equipped with the latest, state-of-the-art technology, including the Intralase and Customvue/Wavefront lasers for the most precise outcomes in laser vision correction.
His other area of specialty in vision correction is catarct surgery in which he uses the latest techniques, including sutureless microsurgery using implantable lenses such as Crystalens, Restor, and Toric lenses.
Dr. Karp is a strong believer in volunteering his skills and services to help those who are less fortunate. He is a proud volunteer for Eye Care for America, as well as for the acclaimed Wounded Warrior Project, where he provides free laser eye surgery to our wounded American veterans.
Abroad, Dr. Karp has participated in numerous volunteer surgical missions throughout his career. He has traveled extensively throughout remote regions of Latin America on surgical expeditions to retore eyesight to those who otherwise would remain blind.
