Kent Aftergut, MD is board certified in Dermatology by the American Academy of Dermatology and a native Texan. He is currently a Clinical Instructor of Dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Department of Dermatology, teaching the residents at Parkland Hospital on Friday afternoons. He also currently serves as the vice president of Dallas Dermatologic Society and will become president of this organization starting in 2009.
Dr. Aftergut graduated magna cum laude from the University of Texas. He attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas where graduated with honors and membership in Alpha Omega Alpha, an honorary medical society. Dr. Aftergut then completed an internship in internal medicine at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, prior to completing his residency in Dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Department of Dermatology.
Dr. Aftergut's professional interests include infectious disease, psoriasis, skin cancer detection and treatment, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Aftergut was part of a team of local dermatologists that discovered the first nine reported cases of a rare infection called leishmaniasis acquired in North Texas.

Dr. Aftergut took 1 look at my current medications, which were all to treat Bipolar Type 2, and decided that the symptoms I was reporting must just be a symptom of my psychiatric disorder. I was not examined, looked at, or even touched. He spent all of 5 minutes in the room with me. I have been Bipolar Type 2 now for almost 10 years and stable on these same medications for over 8 years. I went to Dr. Aftergut because I was suffering and knew something was very wrong but ended up leaving his office crying and ashamed. I wanted to remind Dr. Aftergut that I was also a healthcare professional, licensed through the state and had spoken with him and his staff on several occasions, but did not. I received the treatment that every patient who takes psychiatric medications gets at this office which is unacceptable, because every patient deserves respect!

Dr. Aftergut runs a pretty efficient office. After signing the paperwork I was able to fill out in advance via zocdoc. I waited less than 5 minutes to be called back. Almost as soon as I got into the exam room, he was walking in and got to work. With his trusty assistant by his side they made quick work of checking my skin for any problems. He explained everything in medical terms then gave an idiots version so someone like me could understand. They were quick to perform a simple procedure and I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. My coworkers thought I forgot about my appointment since I was back to work so quickly.

Loved him! I was nervous after all the bad reviews. Yes he's quick and efficient but he knows his stuff! It's not necessary for a doctor to spend 30+min with you for the doctor to be thorough and competent! My son will Be back and I'm going to set my own appt too!

The doctor didn't even bother to look at my feet and just listened to what I said. He didn't tell me what was wrong with my skin or anything he just prescribed me a medicine that was very expensive but I didn't get because I was never told what was wrong with my skin since he didn't even looked at my feet. I used google and found out by myself that I had athlete feet and used a home based method with on shelf items to treat it, used it for few weeks and cost me almost nothing.
