Current non-psychiatric medications and supplements are also checked for negative interactions with psychiatric medication. Non-pharmacological treatment options are also discussed.
Dr. Tollefson received her medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University College of Medicine. She then began her internship in psychiatry at Yale University College of Medicine, in New Haven, Connecticut. She completed her training in adult psychiatry at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. Following residency, she practiced adult, inpatient, psychiatry, at Danville State Hospital, treating individuals struggling with severe mental illness, for 3 years. She then changed her practice to outpatient psychiatry, in a community mental health clinic in rural Pennsylvania, where she worked with individuals from a broad range of psychiatric struggles, and diverse life experiences. She subsequently became the medical director of that clinic.
