Krishna Gujavarty is a reassuring and thorough Psychiatrist working in West Islip, NY. After earning his medical degree in India in 1976, he moved to the United States and graduated with his Psychiatry degree from the State University of New York, Stony Brook. Dr. Gujavarty then completed his residency at Stony Brook University Hospital and an internship at Nassau University. He is certified by the American Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Gujavarty offers consultations for a variety of psychiatric needs including Alzheimer’s disease, ADD/ADHD, bipolar disorder, bereavement, and anxiety and anger management. In addition, he has had special training for treating various sleep problems and sexual disorders. In these fields, he has earned special distinction and published works in a number of scientific journals.
Dr. Gujavarty is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, Violence-Free Society and also served as the president of the Indo-American Psychiatric Association. He is a passionate tennis player and fan as well as an active Rotarian at the Babylon Rotary Club. He speaks fluent Telugu in addition to English.

I feel as if he is very out of date with his analysis. Everything came off as something he read in a book once. As I cried in the office, he suggested that it was because of "social media" that I felt this way, rather than because I felt completely unheard during my session. I felt as if he heard nothing that I was saying, and that recommended me a prescription with barely understanding the way that I felt. I would not go back to this office. He was very friendly don't get me wrong, but it felt like he was very out of touch.

For anyone that TRULY wants to get better. If you’re looking for a doctor to just write scripts-Go to Broadway in Amityville plenty of Docs there, that as long as you pay they will prescribe BUT if you are someone that wants a REAL psychiatrist that is going to help you regain your confidence & happiness to enjoy life & live in the presence. My last psychiatrist of 5 years was not someone I trusted but the hours worked with my schedule at that time. My appointments consisted of being asked where to send my prescriptions that’s it. Never asked how I was feeling or if my dosages needed any adjustments. I was lucky if I got a full minute each month & that’s being generous. It is not easy to find a great psychiatrist that you TRUST. I never comment or leave reviews but I had to. It was necessary because I want to help other people get better & this psychiatrist is truly amazing. Bonus is the availability multiple days & times for an appointment which is very convenient.
