People who come to see me choose a talking therapy in which they are uniquely, skillfully listened to and responded to in ways that that are supportive, clarifying and promote meaningful insights. Some may feel anxious,worried, depressed or be blocked academically, in one's career or in relationships.
A patient and I can observe together how one feels, thinks and acts. These become better understood as we work. Connections are made between thoughts. One can change the reasons they do or don't do things and become less conflicted and troubled,develop new choices and become able to "treat themselves."
To do what I do well requires vast, excellent training, and a personality which respects individual differences. I am a senior member of the faculty of the Psychiatry Department of the University of Miami School of Medicine and the Florida Psychoanalytic Institute. I see individual adults for psychoanalysis or psychotherapy, and couples, and teenagers.
