Dr. Chen is an urgent care doctor
Lei Chen, M.D., M.P.H. completed his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Southern Medical University located in Guangzhou, China. Dr. Chen’s continued his education in New York City where he would later graduate from the Columbia University School of Public Health with a Master of Public Health Degree. He completed his residency at the Cox Family Medicine Residency where he received specialized training in internal medicine, emergency medicine, urgent care, pediatrics, surgery and OB/GYN. Dr. Lei Chen earned the Outstanding Achievement Award for outstanding performance in theoretical and practical studies while studying Diagnostic Medical Sonography Training at the Institute of Allied Medical Professions.
As a previous physician of Dong Fang Hospital in Fuzhou, China, Dr Chen practiced Western medicine and traditional Chinese acupuncture. During his tenure at Dong Fang Hospital, his impressive performance was recognized, as Dr. Chen became the recipient of the Outstanding Young Physician Award. The doctor had also worked as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center for an extended period where he performed rest and stress echocardiograms and formulated preliminary echo reports. Dr. Chen was also able to further demonstrate his expertise in ultrasound/echocardiogram when he became a specialized instructor of adult echocardiography at the Healthcare Training Institute.
Dr. Chen is currently a physician of Urgent Medical Care in Flushing where he assists the community’s patients with their medical needs. Dr. Chen’s is a board certified physician of the American Board of Family Medicine while he also possesses qualifications as a New York State certified physician acupuncturist.

My experience with the doctor was fine. However, the staff could not answer any of my questions and even gave me false information regarding my insurance so that I ended up with a giant bill.

It was prompt and very straight forward. Not much conversation and I felt like the doctor really just wanted to write a Rx and call it a day. She prescribed 3 things, when we only talked about one...and I didn't learn this until I went to the pharmacy to pick it up. I only picked up the eye drops she prescribed. I guess just be weary of the overzealous Rx writing and only get what you really need. Good for a quick visit and certainly helpful that I got seen the same day.
