The P.A.-Amela was so thorough and friendly. I was so nervous going in because I am a new patient with no established health care with their office, so I felt my options would be limited. I have had bad experiences being a new patient before, so I was very nervous. Not with Amela. She was very kind, informative, listened without judgement, gave referrals, and gave me treatment that she felt was best. I definitely look forward to making this office my PCP. Trust me when I say that this office doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable at all. I felt 0% judgement. These days a lot of doctors will make you feel you are pre-judged and making up illnesses, but this office didn’t make me feel any condescending way. I give them an A+++!!! I can’t say enough. I am referring everybody I know to them because it was the best yet...I read good reviews about their office, but to experience it was certainly a surprise. I highly recommend them!

More about Dr. Leo Toupin, MD
Dr. Leo Toupin spent most of his childhood growing up in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He
was valedictorian of his High School Class and went on to complete his undergraduate
degree at Indiana University. There he was elected into The Phi Beta Kappa Society
during his junior year and graduated with a BS in
Biology with high distinction in 1986. Dr. Toupin
went on to receive his medical education at Indiana
University School of Medicine in Indianapolis,
Indiana. He was elected into membership to Alpha
Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and received
achievement awards including the Upjohn
Achievement Award, the Merck Manual Award, and
the James Y. McCollough Fellowship Award. Dr.
Toupin excelled in academics and graduated at the
top of his class in 1990.
Dr. Toupin completed his internship and residency in
Internal Medicine at the University of California, San
Diego Medical Center in 1993. Upon graduation, he
began working for Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group, a large multi-specialty medical
group as a staff Internist in San Diego and remained there until his relocation to Austin in
2002. During this time, Dr. Toupin was an Associate Investigator of the Sharp ReesStealy
Clinical Research Department. He was involved in several studies relating to
treatment of hypertension and Influenza infection. He was the HIV Specialist for this
group from 1998-2002 and was a member of the HIV Medicine Association of the
Infectious Diseases Society of America. He was also a Medical Consultant for the
group’s weight management program from 1998-2002.
Dr. Toupin relocated to Austin in 2002 with his family to begin a private practice in
Internal Medicine. He is a member of the Travis County Medical Society and American
College of Physicians. He has focused on Primary Care and has established a complete
network of sub-specialists serving most of the major hospitals in Austin. He remains on
staff at North Austin Medical Center and St David’s Medical Center. In 2007, he
relocated his office and became known as “Capital Primary Care”. His office has
implemented new technologies including an Electronic Medical Record with the ability
to communicate with patients via email. He has expanded his interests into greater
involvement with pain management and is a member of the Texas Pain Society. He also
has focused on sleep related disorders and their treatment. To further serve his patients,
he has added various cosmetic procedures including Botox since 2003, Restylane since
2004 , Juvaderm since 2007,and advanced laser hair removal with the Candela Gentlelase
Plus.
Dr. Toupin lives in Austin with his wife Jennifer and their two daughters. In his spare
time, he enjoys running, golf, reading, and spending time with his family and friends.

Dr. Toupin spent at least 20 minutes with me which is amazing and allowed plenty of time to get all my questions answered. I didn't feel rushed at all which was the case with my previous physician.
