I’ve never spent 3 1/2 hours in a doctors before with an appointment. Once seen I received excellent service but GEESH!
Walking into Dr. Vaughn's office was like walking into a factory. You'd think I'd mean this as a bad thing. Absolutely not. This was a well-oiled machine. The receptionists were on top of things. Highly organized. Every patient was placed into various stations along the assembly line. First the waiting room, then the waiting area for a basic vision test, then eye drops, then waiting room for dilation (dark room), then a brief consult, then the main consult with the doctor. After the receptionist hands you off in the first waiting area, you have your own intern/nurse/student that holds your hand the whole way along the process. I had a pre-med African American young man. Very helpful, talkative, and like the doctor, no non-sense. I've read some of the reviews about Dr. Vaughn's bedside manner being harsh or rough. You know what? I don't visit a doctor's office to socialize. I go there for diagnosis, treatment and prevention. Dr. Vaughn gets to the point, gives you his opinion, a prescription, if necessary, and wishes you well. I didn't feel all warm and fuzzy with him, but I did feel like he knew exactly what he was doing and what he was talking about. And I'd much rather have the latter than the former. I had two hordeolums in my eyelids. He quipped, "You know how to make sure you keep getting those back?". I said, "No, how?". He said, "Just go ahead and keep touching your eyes with your fingers." So is that rude? No. It's the truth. I don't need my stupidity sugar-coated. I'll take it as is. So, my consult with the Doctor went well. He prescribed two antibiotics and gave me a sample of an anti-inflammatory (non-steroidal) as well. The "how to" use of all of these was made clear and he handed me the prescription on the spot. I left his office, and went on to reception and checked out (with a special black lens I slipped onto my glasses - due to the dilation). All done in about an hour. I'd give that an A+. And I'm just fine with their assembly line.

I have confidence in his abilities and knowledge of his profession
It was very timely. He was extremely nice. It was very peaceful.
He was very rude and condescending. Would never go back to him
Doctor and staff show compassion which is a rarity these days.
A pleasure to do business with. Very Professional.
It took 2 hours to see Dr. Vaughn for 5 mins. His office is busy!! His staff is professional and curteous but not very knowledgeable. I would not come here if you want to get information or feel like a person at this establishment.

To be fair, the wait time might have been lengthy because i needed an appointment quite quickly due to the light flashes occurring in my right eye and i was only visiting Los Angeles. So one positive thing is that they fit me in quite quickly so i did wait for over 30 minutes because its possible they 'squeezed' me in. The second positive is that once Dr. Vaughn diagnosed me, i was treated immediately with laser therapy and i did not have to make or wait for a followup appointment to get treated. The third positive is that in my follow-up with a prominent retinal specialist in New York where i reside, the specialist stated that Dr. Vaughn had pretty much done well with the laser treatment. The specialist had to do a little more laser therapy but he stated that what he was treating was so very small that he could see how Dr. Vaughn missed it. The most negative thing about treatment with Dr. Vaughn for me was his manner of communicating. Once he told me his diagnosis, he handed me a brochure that explains it thoroughly and as he left the room, he indicated i could see a film that would explain it further. I would have preferred a clear explanation from him and then he could have handed me the brochure and film as support material. After watching the film, i was still not certain as to the cause of my eye condition so when i asked him, he just answered dismissively and a little irritated, "You're getting old!" For me, this eye condition was and is a constant fearful proposition and his bedside manner of dismissiveness was not helpful in my first encounter with it. I am very grateful to Dr. Vaughn's office staff, particularly the reception desk, who were helpful in terms of setting up appointments and being hospitable when i arrived. The attending nurses once you are in to see the doctor are very business-like, no warmth really for me, much more for the senior patients that seem to be Dr. Vaughn's general patient pool. And i am ultimately grateful for Dr. Vaughn's treatment of something quite serious within a short period of time. And i am not a patient that needs coddling or over explanations but i do feel that Dr. Vaughn could have ushered me into this whole other world of complications with my eyes with much more tact and thorough info not provided by audio visuals but by direct eye contact and human communication. I was quite rattled and it would have been just as easy to assuage my fears with some comforting professional assertions by Dr. Vaughn.
Bad bedside manner. Long waits

Overall, the visit was good. The doctor was pleasant and professional, as was the assistant and office staff. The examination was very thorough and comprehensive. They offer a wide selection of eye wear to choose from, which I liked. The only downfall is the wait time. The office was beyond crowded. My visit was on a Saturday, which I appreciate the option, considering my work schedule, I just didn't plan to spend 3 hours there. Generally, I would recommend this practice due to the service, but be aware that you will likely be there a while.

I've been going to Dr. Vaughn since I was 5 years old and I will be 24 in May. There hasn't been a disappointing time with any visit to his office. The staff are all friendly and professional. The wait time is better than any other office I've visited. I would highly recommend not just Dr. Vaughn but his staff as well.

The receptionists were nice, but I was waiting there over 2 hours! When I finally got into see the doctor it felt rushed as if he was jst trying to get through patients. I feel like this was just an operation to get patients through as quickly as possible. I've had much better experiences at Sam's Clubs' optical departments!
Dr. Vaughn is an excellent ophthalmologist with an excellent long time staff. I had a great experience and can't wait to get my new glasses!!!
I think I came at a busy hour because it took about 45 minutes for my name to be called. The visit was fast after my name was called, and the nurses and doctor was extremely nice.

The office staff was extremely professional and friendly. I wanted to try contacts instead of glasses, Rosie took time to explain my options and even put a pair of contacts in my eyes to try them for a day before I committed to the change to see if I would like them. Dr Vaughn made me feel very comfortable and answered all my question without rushing. Dr. Vaughn was also very professional . I would highly recommend Dr. Vaughn and his staff
Verified patient
I like the office, staff member and the doctor wore nice and friendly. the only thing was the wait i understand their busy, but they put you from the waiting room to the dark room to another room then the doctor room. Very professional will recommend just take a magazine or a fully chage battery
The examination was thorough and I was able to find a nice pair of frames for a reasonable price. The staff was very friendly

This is the first time I used the service. Dr. AVaughn is my regular Opthalmologist for over twenty years. He has done cataract surgery on both my eyes, with no problems. E is simply a great doctor.
Verified patient
Gotta say, I was not impressed. I got the distinct feeling that Dr. Vaughn was burnt out and going through the motions. On two occassions, he just snatched away the optometry device my chin was placed on without notice; he did not volunteer ANY information about the exam he and his assistant conducted, and his bedside manner was very detached and "over it."
Good & professional
I actually was able to secure a same day appointment online for 2:15pm. However, feeling miserable I called the office, (wonderful staff) Dr. Vaughn was able to see me earlier. I received a complete thorough examine, and treatment for my condition all in less then 90 minutes, this with being worked in. Dr. Vaughn is an amazing doctor, and a wonderful human being! He was my ophthalmologist several years ago, I cannot imagine why I would have gone to anyone else; I am back to stay!
I do not recommend this Dr. His office staff was RUDE upon check in. Why do that to a new patient? The Dr. has no personality and you can tell is no longer into his profession. It is time for him to hang it up. Very Disappointed and I definitely have to go see another Dr to feel any confidence about my appt.
Keeps his patients waiting too long.
outstanding

Dr Vaughn is an excellent Ophthalmologist. His wait time is extremely long, though. However, if you have the time then I highly recommend his services. Great eyeglass frames that are highly fashionable in many styles are available.

It was great! Dr. Vaughn and his team have always been so supportive and helpful. I would absolutely recommend him to any new patients.
The visit was time consuming, I waited to long to be seen, they had 3 clients scheduled for a 9:00am appt., I think I'll pass on another visit.
Overall, great staff & facility!
