It was an initial new patient consult for cataract surgery so the jury is still out but Dr. Silk was very open about the surgical risks and what my lens implant options with his recommendations for me. Dr. Silk was very professional and had a relaxed manner that made him easy to talk to about the procedure.

Dr. Silk is an American Board Certified Ophthalmologist. He received his medical degree as well as completed his internship from Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, WV. He then completed his Ophthalmology residency at the Medical College of Virginia/ Virginia Commonwealth University and a Cornea/ External Disease/Refractive surgery fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh which is listed as one of America’s top hospitals by US News and World Report.
Throughout Dr. Silk’s career he has been devoted to ophthalmic research. He was a clinical research fellow at the National Eye Institute and has given many lectures at the local and national level. A committed teacher, Dr. Silk served as an Assistant Professor and Director of Medical Student Education at George Washington University before entering private practice and also has traveled internationally to teach and provide charity medical services. A member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and is a specialist in cornea transplantation, refractive, cataract surgery and external eye diseases. He welcomes new patients for specialty and general ophthalmology care.

Although there was a 40 minute wait for my appoinment. Dr. Silk apologized profusely explaining that he had 2 emergencies earlier in the day. This was my first visit and I was completely satisfied with his thoroughness and considered recommendations.

I had read a negative feedback for this doctor and I was hesitant about using him. What a surprise he was wonderful. Dr. Silk is a down to earth guy. He was friendly and professional at the same time! He took his time and the exam was unrushed and thorough ! He took time to make sure I was comfortable and explained everything in detail. I highly recommend him to everyone.

I did not like the way he treated me. I think he was very impersonal and he did not perform in my opinion a full exam of my eyes. It felt like he was doing a systematic procedure and he was not dealing with another human being.

Did not like how he treated me. I did not felt that he really cared about my eye health and about examine my eyes health completely and really putting an effort to tackle any issues I might have. I am not seeing well while reading but he did not noticed because he did not ask me anything about it neither tested my vision for possible anomalies.

I didn't feel like I was treated like an important patient, like all patients should. I felt somewhat dismissed by the doctor and that my condition while not dire, was not taken seriously to them. I was given no relief for my eye. After all of this, I still have pain.
