Madan K. Raj, M.D., is a board certified interventional physiatrist who specializes in pain management and physical medicine and rehabilitation. Dr. Raj practices interventional pain management, non-operative spine care, musculoskeletal medicine and general physiatry.
Dr. Raj earned his medical degree from Madurai Kamaraj University, India, and postgraduate diploma in orthopedics from JJM Medical College, India. He performed his internship in surgery and then completed a three year residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York. Dr. Raj then performed a fellowship in interventional pain medicine in the Department of Anesthesiology at SUNY-Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York. He also completed training in rehabilitation medicine at National Rehabilitation Hospital, Dublin, Republic of Ireland. Dr. Raj recently earned an Executive MBA from the University of Texas (U.T.) at Dallas and completed certification in healthcare management from the School of Management at U.T., Dallas.
Dr. Raj served as Medical Director, Interventional Spine Program, Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network, Allentown, PA prior to joining Neurological Surgery, P.C. He was the Division Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Basset Health Care, Cooperstown, NY and started the Bassett Spine Center. He presented grand rounds at Albert Einstein College of Medicine on Chronic Pain Management and Sports for the Disabled. Dr. Raj’s clinical interest includes advanced pain management techniques in spinal pain and discogenic pain. Dr. Raj is researching the effect of spinal cord stimulation in chronic leg pain of peripheral vascular disease.
