Hice el appointment con la Dra Maria porque siempre me habia tratado con una doctora (mujer), creo que me da un poco de verguenza verme con un hombre. Cuando llegue al consultorio me dijeron que la doctora no ve los sabados, que si queria podia re agendar para la semana o verme con uno de los dos doctores (hombres) que estaban ese dia, y como ya estaba ahi decidi seguir con el appointment. Best choice ever! El Dr Rolando es lo MAXIMO, super gentil y la consulta fue para nada incomoda. Lo recomiendo 100%!

Dr. Maria Elena Fernandez-Mestres was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She obtained her Bachelor Degree in General Sciences at University of Puerto Rico in 2001. She completed her medical degree at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. (ACGME accredited program). Shortly after, Maria Elena married her college sweetheart and started residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the same institution. During her senior year, she was chosen as Chief resident in her residency program.
Dr. Maria Elena Fernandez is board certified in Obstetris and Gynecology from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. (ABOG). After graduating from her speciality in 2009, Dr. Fernandez spent 2 years in private practice. She made her way to Florida in 2011 where she undertook clinical research in robotics in the setting of oncologic patients between 2011 and 2012. After having her first child in 2012, she gradually returned to practice. Her extensive work experience includes being an assistant professor of OBGYN at FIU.
Her areas of interest include high-risk obstetrics, gynecologic malignancies and behavioral sciences, particulary related to anxiety and depression in the OBGYN patient population. Dr. Fernandez strongly believes in a compassionate approach as the key for establishing meaningful relationships with her patients, loved ones, and people in general.
She decided to join First Class OB GYN, moved by her search for high quality of care and team oriented work environment. Maria Elena loves animals (specially dogs), traveling, and deeply enjoys spending time with her husband, Joshua and daughters Catalina Isabelle and Eva Lucia, as well as with her dogs Nena and Lola.

The doctor is lovely, the office is horribly disorganized packed. Be prepared to wait 2-3 hours to be seen by the doctor. I got to my appointment 11:00 for the 11:15 appointment the waiting room was packed .People were even sleeping in the room and many people were complaining to be waiting 2+ hours to even get their vitals checked. The doctor herself is very nice but they have her sharing her time with the hospital so your appointment will be severely delayed. If you need to see a doctor i recommend visiting the Weston location instead of the Miramar location its a disaster there.

Honestly Dr.Fernandez was AMAZING. She listened to all of my concerns and provided insight of things that I was not knowledgeable about. The wait time was horrible though to see her. Her front staff would literally have their own conversations and then help patients, they were nice but still were very slow. Just always make sure to do your new patient forms before getting there because if not you’ll wait like 2 hours to see a doctor.

I waited for over 2 hours to be taken back, then another 45 minutes in the room before I was seen for a 15-minute appointment. I was very frustrated. I understand that one of their doctors had an emergency, but I would've appreciated a call to let me know what was going on so I could reschedule or maybe come later. I had to reschedule my whole day because of this appointment. Extremely unprofessional.

love this office!! Been a few times now, and I’ll never go anywhere else. They have a complimentary coffee/latte/hot choccy machine in the lobby that gives me life. Waited in the exam room for a bit for my doc today, but it was great bc I’m a tired, toddler mom who doesn’t get much baby free time, and I took a nap on the exam chair. V comfy chair. Overall 10/10 experience, highly recommend.

Beautiful office, very clean and organized. Be sure to come with patience becauseThe wait time is long due to there high volume of patients that they have to accommodate. The staff that work in the front desk are young girls so they are mainly on there phones or treat you with negative attitude, They also tend to talk about there personal matters in front of the patients. I think they need to work on that but, The doctor that covered for my doctor since Fernandez had to deliver a baby was great! she was very informative and understood my problem and made the Pap smear comfortable and she was gentle as well. Highly recommend the place. Will for sure return in the future.

I am very displeased with the office I took a urine specimen September 8th it is now the 27th and I have called more than once no one has called me back. I have asked for my medical records with no call back and I have emailed more than once without a response back.

My problem wasn’t with Dr. Maria but the office and front desk. I was set for blood work for my 2nd visit just to be told I have no proof of pregnancy and that my first ultrasound there was a courtesy ultrasound (I never heard of that in my life) Dr.Maria told me on my first visit that my second visit will be all blood work and I will be finding out the gender. Just to get told no and that I’ll have to come in another day for proof of pregnancy really hurt me. So I set another appointment, then they called me 15 minutes later telling me to come upstairs to take my vitals after they told me I was done when I set the new appointment . I told her you guys told me to come on Saturday and then she said I had two different appointment which makes no sense at all to me when I was only scheduled for one. They need to learn how communicate i drove an hour over there for no blood work test when they could’ve simply called me and let me know ahead of time that they were changing everything up.

Dr. Fernandez-Mestres is the real deal, courteous and warm. She also addresses the issues without rush. It is also good that she was gentle with my female parts as I have seen doctors who were rough. Unfortunately I will not be able to see her anymore as there was a misrepresentation on zocdoc that she accepted my insurance Firsthealth but was notified by her office after making the appointment that her office does not. The wait in the waiting room could have been less but I wont complain.
