I never would wish this upon anybody but I had surgery with Dr. Palafox last year to have lumpectomy. Since then I have had four friends need surgery. I insisted they all go and meet Dr. Palafox and every one of them decided to use her had a fantastic outcome. I sure hope I stop seeing my friends need surgery, but if I do I know where we are all going to send them- to our little angel Dr. Palafox.

I was petrified when I received the diagnosis of breast cancer from my family practice physician. She immediately referred me to Dr. Palafox & told me that Dr. Palafox office would call me. I was so scared I couldn't wait for the call so I called the office myself. They must have been able to tell how nervous I was so they put Dr. Palafox herself on the phone with me. Dr. Palafox then told me to go ahead & just come on over to the office, that she wanted to see me that day. When I got to the office I could tell she was a high-demand lady. I couldn't believe she was willing to squeeze me in . Everything about my experience with Dr. Palafox has been incredible.

Dr. Maria Palafox is a respected general and breast cancer surgeon in South Texas, and one of only a very few female surgeons with a practice predominantly focused on breast cancer. Dr. Palafox has always had a passion for women's health and caught the "surgery bug" when she was in medical school. After working as a general surgeon for several years, she had the opportunity to join a practice just outside of Houston, TX that specialized in breast cancer. During her experience there, she became well-known for her clinical expertise and was asked to serve as the liaison for the Committee on Cancer to the American Collet of Surgeons for Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, an NAPBC-certified organization and Bayshore Medical Center just outside of Houston, TX. She also served as the Chief of Breast and General Surgery within the Tenet Healthcare network.
Dr. Palafox moved back to South Texas in 2015 to launch South Texas Breast Surgery, a surgical practice specializing in predominantly in breast cancer, genetic testing & counseling, and women's surgical needs. She maintains a general surgery division as well that performs all types of surgeries for both men and women to include gall bladder removal, appendectomy, breast reduction, hernia repair, skin tag removal, colectomy, and hemorrhoidectomy.
Dr. Palafox completed her undergraduate degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and earned her medical degree and fellowship from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio.

Dr. Palafox's office responded right away when I called to make my appointment. She was incredibly thorough in her explanation of my surgery and my outcome was fantastic. I feel great. I am very grateful for her expertise.

Go see Dr. Palafox if you have breast cancer. Do not go anywhere else. She is amazing in every way-kind, brilliant, and an absolutely phenomenal surgeon. She saved my life.

Dr. Palafox performed my gall bladder surgery last month. The pre and post surgical follow up, both from her and her staff, have been excellent. I recommend her without reservation.

Dr. Palafox has been an absolute God send to my family. I am the oldest of 5 sisters. Our mom died of breast cancer when I was 23 years old. I was recently diagnosed. My sisters and I have always been so scared about breast cancer but we didn't know what to do . Dr. Palafox had a family meeting with us (over the weekend because thats the only thing we could all be in town) and told us everything about genetic testing. We have all been tested and feel so much more confident about the decisions we are making.

I don't usually post reviews but my experience with Dr. Palafox's office was so exceptional I wanted other woman who were scared and afraid of being diagnosed with breast cancer to have the courage to go to Dr. Palafox. Her compassion and willingness to explain everything to me before my surgery was unbelievable. My entire surgery went so smoothly; I am back home and feeling better than ever.

I highly recommend Dr. Palafox to any woman needing surgery. It was so hard for me to find a female surgeon, and when I found Dr. Palafox I knew right away she was excellent. She is very well-versed in her discipline but has such a great way of explaining everything in detail but in a way you can really understand it.
