Originally from Sterling, Colorado, Dr. Nelson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine and completed residency training in internal medicine at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
“Medicine was a natural fit for me. It allows me to be intellectually challenged and hands-on with people. I get to make a difference in people’s lives during their most valuable state – their health.”
As a primary care physician, Dr. Nelson finds the long-term relationships he builds with his patients to the most rewarding part of his job.
A newlywed, Dr. Nelson and his wife love to travel. In the last few years, he has completed a marathon, triathlon and focused on his golf and tennis games. During the last year, Dr. Nelson and a friend started a nonprofit organization – Fund the Fight. Their fundraising events raise funds for patients who cannot afford to pay for necessary healthcare treatments.
