Dr. Martha White – the Director of Research for the Institute for Asthma and Allergy (IAA) and a nationally recognized pediatric and adult allergist – is known for her clinical skills and scientific research, as well as her continued contributions towards education of the public regarding asthma, allergies, and sinusitis.
She began her research career at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where she spent nine years studying asthma and allergic diseases, prior to co-founding the Institute for Asthma and Allergy (IAA). In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Martha White now heads one of the most active clinical research centers devoted to asthma, allergy, and sinusitis – not only in the Greater Washington DC area, but across the United States as well.
Dr. White has been listed in “The Best Doctors in America” by Woodward and White and the “Guide to America’s Top Pediatricians” by the Consumer Research Council of America for many years, and has been recognized as one of the “Best Doctors” by the Washingtonian Magazine, and the Washington Consumer Checkbook. She has published over 200 scientific articles, books, abstracts, and pamphlets related to asthma, sinusitis, and allergic diseases for both the scientific community and the lay public.
A founding board member of the Allergy and Asthma Network / Mothers of Asthmatics, Inc., she is also the organization’s medical editor and recipient of the Helping Others Breath Easier Award (1995). Dr. Martha White is the former president of the Society of Principal Investigators, and is secretary of several committees of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, including the Public Education Committee.

I was very happy and satisfied with my care. Both the doctor and the staff were efficient in seeing me in both a professional and timely manner. They saw me and got me the treatment that I needed right away - I would highly recommend this doctor! I will be transfering all my allergy and asthma needs to her care.
