Dr. Pressman has many years of experience as a psychiatrist in treating children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings. Herself a widow and single mother, living with cancer, she is familiar with the need to follow where life leads and has found that our beliefs about our bodies and our circumstances are important to our ability to deal with difficult problems, not always within our control. Changes caused by COVID, which generated fear and isolation, have been very concerning to her. Dr. Pressman helps her clients by clarifying what the problem is that they are seeking help for, in order to optimize their independent functioning. If it is in their power to work on the problem, Dr. Pressman will work together with them to develop a tool set, including better communication, more emotional awareness, enhanced listening in relationships, improved self-care, and spiritual practice, if they wish. If it is not in their power to solve the problem, then Dr. Pressman will work with them on ways to accept the situation and adapt to living with it. Medication is seen as an adjunct in psychiatric treatment which has regard for the whole person in the context of social, family, and work/school stressors.
Dr. Pressman’s interest in art and art history has led her to also obtain a Master’s degree in fine arts in recent years.

Dr. Pressman is a very kind, compassionate psychiatrist. She is incredibly intelligent and very intuitive. She cared about everything I had to say. I was not rushed. She made me feel comfortable and safe, as I shared my personal “story” with her. (I have seen psychiatrists for about 30 yrs., b/c I have treatment resistant clinical depression)…so, I have met many doctors over the years. She is by far one of the best doctors that I have seen. She gave me hope. She made sure that the medication that I was almost out of was re-filled, which tends to be a problem with many doctors. I feel like I can count on her. Our meeting was not just about what meds I have taken over the years. She wanted to know about ME! She obviously knows that psychiatric sicknesses are not just going to be about the meds…it’s about each individual’s stories, lives, environmental situations, and who is in one’s support system. SHE CARES!!! It’s not just about making money. It is about each individual person. Also, she accepts my insurance, which is so rare!
I believe in her! She gave me HOPE! That is so important. I highly recommend Dr. Pressman.
