Dr. Heller was amazing!! I was so grateful that I was able to get an appointment at 8 am on a Tuesday following a holiday weekend. I had a torn retina and he immediately referred me to a retina specialist and the office booked my appointment with the specialist and I was having a laser procedure (which I am sure saved me from retina detachment) within 2 hours.
Dr. Heller was kind, friendly, and very reassuring. He understood that I was nervous and helped me to stay calm. He is FANTASTIC!

Dr. Matthew Heller received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. He attended medical school at Midwestern University - Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Arizona and completed his internship at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Heller completed his residency in ophthalmology at Nova Southeastern University/Beraja Medical Institute/Larkin Hospital in Miami, Florida. During his residency, he received the Patrick Murray Academic Achievement Award from the American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in 2015. After residency, Dr. Matthew Heller joined his father Dr. Warren Heller MD to practice ophthalmology in downtown Phoenix, Arizona.

They weren’t aware of my appointment but fortunately were able to see me a bit later than scheduled. The doctor was pretty nice but there was a mixup with the prescription they sent so I spent 2 hours waiting at Frys for it to be fixed. I worry for other patients who might not have known any better

Within a few minutes he could tell my eye history without needing to check my old history from another state. I've seen Dr. Heller twice, once in downtown Phoenix and once in North Phoenix. I prefer the North Phoenix office as it's nicer, but no matter what location, the provider is a gem. He has amazing bedside manner, is very thorough and explains your diagnosis in ways you can understand.

Had to wait an hour after appointment time. Really should have just gone to a optometrist. I have Macular Degeneration and thought that would be addressed more than it was.

Was able to do a thorough exam and answered all questions. Did not want to push surgery (which would be more money for them). When I brought it up he said he wanted me to try prescription to make ensure things are good before exploring options... I like that.

Well, office & Doctor were all good. I don’t have a resolution for my symptoms, but I did receive some reassurance and it was a necessary first step - my symptoms persist - I have a flashing light aura vision distortion which has lasted for 4 days - maybe I’ll see a neurologist

Dr. Heller listened to me and was very easy to talk to. My visit was thorough and he did a complete examination on me. He was careful with me as I have allergies to aloe. Should my right eye change or become worse, I will surely return to him. When I got home, I went on Amazon and purchased the mask he had recommended! I should get it tomorrow on Prime. My husband also liked him very much.
