About Dr. Jasandeep Uppal
Dr. Jasan Uppal was born and raised in Toronto, Canada where he completed his Bachelors of Science with Honors in Biology from the prestigious University of Toronto. He then went on to study optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry, graduating cum laude.
After completing optometry school, Dr. Uppal pursued a post-graduate residency specialty program in primary care/ocular disease at the Illinois Eye Institute. He developed high proficiency in treating and managing eye diseases and conditions including glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, dry eye, and diabetes. He worked alongside esteemed optometry and ophthalmology faculty to solidify his craft. Dr. Uppal worked as an assistant professor at the Illinois College of Optometry for 3 years teaching clinical, laboratory, and didactic components to optometry students before moving to Arizona.
Academia is a lifelong passion for Dr. Uppal. He is currently an adjunct clinical professor at Midwestern University. He strives to advance the future of eyecare by mentoring young optometrists to be the best in our field.
Outside of optometry, Dr. Uppal has a passion for music. He finds his rhythm by learning how to play new instruments and listening to music from around the world.
Living in Arizona has brought out the outdoorsy side of Dr. Uppal. He enjoys hiking and long bike rides with his loving wife and dog, Mia.

I’ve been going to Scottsdale Eyeology for several years and the care has always been beyond what I have experienced at other practices. I have really dry eyes and the doctors haven’t given up on my contact fittings. They are also really kind and make your visit unique - taking an interest in you as a person.

Dr. Uppal was able to put my mind at ease when I visited his office with a pretty serious emergency eye infection. After speaking with several doctors before him, Dr. Uppal knew exactly what was going on, what medication’s I needed, and assured me that I would be back to 100% soon. A day or so after my visit, I emailed him with some questions and he replied in less than 10 minutes to put my concerns to rest. This was on a Sunday and I likely interrupted his day with friends or family but you would never know with how quickly he got back to me. Highly recommended.
