Made an appt on Zocdoc, it was confirmed then I received a call that someone had taken my slot and I was pushed back a couple hours. Waited an hour to see the doc, and was disappointed in the examination and thoroughness. He didn’t address most of the pain I was having and just sent me home with instructions to take ibuprofen twice a day for 10 days. Now I get to pay a specialist fee to go see someone else.

Apparently I wasn’t there for a condition he approved of, which wasn’t the issue. It was his manner and presentation of his opinion that was. He was rude and condescending, he acted as if I should have known as much as he did and because I didn’t I was lying about the level of my pain. I used him in 2013 for my previous hand surgery so I thought it’d be a good idea to get his opinion this time. Instead all I received was a terrible attitude. Never going to him again!

I would definitely recommend him. A dear friend referred me to him. His office staff was friendly. And the wait time? 5-8 minutes. He’s friendly, down to earth and smart. He knew within 5 seconds of looking at my X-rays and simple examination what the problem most likely was with my knee. He ordered an MRI and was considerate as to how “far” I’d driven to see him. (I’m from Dallas — 30 minutes is nothing.) He’s worth every mile!!! I highly recommend Dr Melander.

The front end staff needs to keep the personal chatter to a minimum and act professional. A little courtesy and respect for the people waiting. If the reception area was empty I could understand playing a game between offices. Not when there is a bunch of patients waiting to be seen.

Doctor Melander was great. He has great bedside manner and is very knowledgeable. He explained what was going on with my knee in a way that I could understand it. The nurses were also extremely nice and professional. If I have anymore issues, I will absolutely go back.

Nice enough guy. Really only issue was that I waited quite some time in a whole lot of pain. He almost ended our appointment with out prescribing any thing for my pain. He did, but only after I asked him too. This is an area that drives me crazy with some docs. With most of my injuries I have been just fine and have not needed any thing for pain, but this wasn't one of those times. The fact that he didn't think to prescribe that for me when it was obvious that my pain was through the roof is crazy to me.

Finally, an excellent, highly recommended Doctor... who has an A+, 1st rate 'Team' for his staff. They just 'get it' from the moment you walk in till you leave... they are concerned, caring, & make you feel important. Check his credentials as I did,...you do not work on staff for the 2007 'Super Bowl Colts' without being at the top end in what you do, & that's nationally. I am a professional athlete out of Vegas, now here in STL. As a SAG Actor & former stunt double for Cruise & Depp, & a certified USPTA Tennis Pro/instructor I have had my share of injuries. I want the best. Recommended by friend, Dr. Mike Milne, surgeon for the World Series Baseball Cardinals, (no higher credentials). When you want the best, & your body is your lively hood, you need look no further than Dr. Matthew Melander & his staff.
