Tell us what makes you passionate about being a healthcare provider.
I get the most satisfaction from my role as a healthcare provider when I have the opportunity to help patients meet their goals. That can range from optimizing cardiovascular health to minimizing risk from renal failure or anything in between.
In your opinion, what should be the role of a primary care provider for a patient, taking into account both physical health and behavioral health needs?
Primary care providers should be (pardon the football reference), the quarterback or coach of your healthcare team. Other members of the team are undoubtedly required for your health, but in order to promote whole-person wellness, the care ideally flows through a PCP, just like the football team, where the plays get funnelled through an individual who you trust is taking in the whole picture. Someone who is actively reading the defense, talking to the other players, doing the research, and making adjustments.
Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy trying to keep up with my wife and 5 kids. We are pretty busy with the kids school and sports activities in our spare time. We also like to get out on a hiking or jeep trail whenever we can.
