More about Dr. Maureen Grissom, PhD
Maureen Grissom, Ph.D. (She/Her) is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. She co-directs the Behavioral Medicine course as well as the Physicians, Patients and Populations (PPP) course in the pre-clerkship curriculum. She also serves on numerous College of Medicine committees.
Grissom is a psychologist licensed in Texas and New York. Before coming to Houston, she was an associate professor at the Zucker School of Medicine and Director of Behavioral Science for the Family Medicine Residency Program at South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, New York. Grissom received the North Shore LIJ/Northwell Health System Outstanding Teacher Award in Family Medicine in 2015 and 2019.
Grissom earned a bachelor’s degree in human service studies from Cornell University, and her master’s and doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Notre Dame. She completed a fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology and stayed on as faculty in the Department of Health Psychology at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
