I have a psychotherapy-based practice, but will use medications as needed. I work with adolescents and adults but also do couples counseling. My style of working is based on emphatic understanding and careful listening.
Effective psychotherapy is based on being able to establish a clear focus on issues that bring people to seek help, identifying past and present coping patterns that may contribute to the problems, and establishing a safe place and good therapeutic alliance with my patients
I blend psychodynamic, cognitive and emotional self-regulating techniques in my clinical work.
Dr. Mauricio Cortina graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico / Faculty of Medicine. He is both fluent in English and Spanish.
His patients would describe him as caring and professional. He really takes the time with each of his patients to ensure that they are as comfortable as possible and all of their needs are addressed.
