Dr. Moghaddas has over 36 years of experience as a Board Certified Psychiatrist and Addiction Psychiatrist, and is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. His practicing philosophy focuses on treating each patient as an individual with unique needs and circumstances and then following evidenced based guidelines to create an individualized treatment plan. Dr. Moghaddas believes in a limited and judicious use of medication in the treatment of psychiatric symptoms. Most of his work is centered around psychotherapy.
In his work as an Addiction Psychiatrist, Dr. Moghaddas specializes in the outpatient treatment of addiction disorders. As may addiction disorders have an underlying or co-morbid psychiatric condition, it is especially important to evaluate and treat for any such underlying psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety or bipolar disorder. Additionally, Dr. Moghaddas has a great deal of experience in the successful use of medication for outpatient detoxification and maintenance treatment of Opioid Addiction.
Dr. Mehdi Moghaddas completed his undergraduate education at Pahlavi University College of Arts and Sciences in Shiraz, Iran, earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. He then went on to attend Pahlavi University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis, Missouri. Dr. Moghaddas has decades of experience in both the outpatient and inpatient setting and currently practices in his private practice in Newport Beach, California.
