Dr. Mehrdad (“Mike”) Malek is an orthopaedic surgeon treating patients in Fairfax, Virginia, and the surrounding communities. He holds certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of professional organizations including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Orthopaedic Association. Dr. Malek is also founder and president of the not-for-profit National Knee Research and Education Foundation.
In order to pursue his medical degree, Dr. Malek attended Shaheed Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Health Services. He continued his medical education with residency training at Hamot Medical Center, the Duke University Medical Center, and Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children. Dr. Malek has also completed a fellowship program in sports medicine and reconstructive knee surgery at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
A world renown pioneer in the advancement of knee arthroscopy and
arthroscopic surgery, he is an accomplished author of three orthopaedic text books and 18 chapters in various orthopaedic text books. In addition, he is frequently requested speaker both nationally and internationally and a 1993 John Joyce Award recipient, a prestigious award presented by International Arthroscopy Association for outstanding scientific research and presentation ( Copenhagen 1993).

First appointment wait time was over an hour. After that the wait time was not as long. Was quick, didn't seem to care, ask any questions, or explain my injury to me. Seeking new doctor in the area.
