Melissa Raddatz is a Family Nurse Practitioner, board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and licensed by the state of New York and Connecticut to provide family-centered healthcare to patients of all ages. Her scope of practice encompasses health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis and management of common and complex medical problems. At Plancher Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, Melissa takes her FNP role and focuses it within the orthopaedic and musculoskeletal realm.
Prior to joining Plancher Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, Melissa was a Transplant Coordinator and Outreach Liaison at St. Luke’s Hospital Kidney Transplant Program. She managed the care of post-transplant patients ensuring continuity of care from transplant team. She also coordinated and provided education on the evaluation and listing process for renal transplant surgery for referring physicians, nurses, social workers and patients. While working at St. Luke’s, her graduate clinical rotation at Hospital for Special Surgery was the ideal fit for her passion for orthopaedics and sports medicine.
Melissa also has an outstanding academic background that includes a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from The College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, VA and a Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing from Columbia University, New York, NY. While at Columbia University, Melissa also was a Clinical Lab Instructor in the Science of Nursing Skills for over 300 students. She was named a scholarship recipient by the Columbia School of Nursing Alumni Association, Columbia University Presbyterian Hospital
School of Nursing Alumni Association, and Clark Foundation.
In addition to her scholastic achievements, Melissa is an elite runner. She ran Division I Cross-Country and Track at The College of William & Mary. She has completed nine marathons, with a PR of 2:50:41 in the 2012 Houston Marathon. She also has been nominated for “Runner of the Year” by New York Road Runners for 2010, 2011 and 2012. She is certified by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America as a personal trainer and primary group fitness instructor. She believes that providing optimal care includes living an active lifestyle and keeping her patients moving on the road to recovery!
