Michael Anderson attended Iowa University on a football scholarship followed by the University of Utah College of Nursing where he received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He earned his nurse practitioner graduate degree from Chamberlain University.
Although Michael’s interest in dermatology began during his clinical training in nursing school, he began his career in pain management. After years of burnout in the ER/hospital and pain management fields, he made the decision to shift to dermatology in pursuit of a better work/life balance.
Michael practiced medical and surgical dermatology for five years in Arizona prior to relocating to Austin. Michael is a Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioner (DCNP) and a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Dermatology Nurse Association. His clinical interests include acne and skin cancer prevention and treatment.
Originally from Salt Lake City, Michael and his wife made the decision to move to Austin for better education and opportunities for their children; plus he’s always had a fondness for Texas. Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, sports, and being outdoors. He also loves the Austin food scene.

Michael is great. He was thorough and quickly helped me out. I will say, get ready to be called/texted nonstop from the office. It’s honestly irritating. Also, it was weird when I had to show a more personal area of my body to Michael and MA didn’t leave the room but just stood and watched

The doctor himself was professional and nice. I have no problems with my actual treatment. However, I did not appreciate that five minutes before I was supposed to arrive I received a call from the reception staff asking where I was and if I was anywhere close. I was not late yet! I understand wanting to keep the appointments moving along, but I think calling to ask one's whereabouts is only appropriate when the patient is actually late. If they'd have given me the chance to just get there, they would have seen that I would have been on time. I found the call to be pushy.

I really liked Michael. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. Everything went smooth as far as check in and check out. I would recommend him and will be going for future skin checks etc.
