Dr. Contreras was very professional and knowledgeable. I was a cash pay patient and he gave me a discount and did not try and push extra tests on me which I appreciated. I would definitely recommend him.

Dr. Michael E. Contreras is a board-certified Dermatologist who moved to Denver from his hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico to join AboutSkin. He has diverse interests including general medical, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology as well as clinical research. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Contreras worked as an Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico Department of Dermatology for two years and then in private practice in Albuquerque for two years prior to joining AboutSkin.
Dr. Contreras received his undergraduate degree in 1996 from the University of Southern California in biomedical and electrical engineering and graduated with the distinction of summa cum laude. He returned to Albuquerque for medical school and graduated in 2001 as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and received the Faculty Award for Excellence. Dr. Contreras completed his Dermatology residency at the University of New Mexico in 2005.
Following his training, Dr. Contreras stayed on faculty at the University of New Mexico and also trained residents at the Veterans Administration Hospital. He has maintained a teaching role while in private practice as a preceptor for medical students and physician assistant students interested in dermatology. He also gives lectures to the dermatology residents and was responsible for introducing cosmetic procedural training to the dermatology residency program. He is a certified injector of Botox and Juvederm and has extensive experience and training in cosmetic procedures including Botox, fillers, chemical peels, and laser therapy.
