Michael L. Fields, Ph.D., C.R.C./R. is a licensed clinical/forensic psychologist. Dr. Fields has a wide ranging background in psychology which encompasses a broad spectrum of psychological services. Dr. Fields is a well known forensic expert in Chicago, having testified in Juvenile, Domestic Relations, Criminal, Federal and Immigration Court proceedings. Dr. Fields has been performing psychological evaluations for over 30 years for a variety of purposes including court related issues, as an adjunct to therapy, for DCFS wards of the state, to address disability issues and for immigration issues. Dr Fields has also served as a consultant to daycare and Head Start programs and has made numerous presentations to professional groups. Dr. Fields also maintains an active therapy practice for individuals as well as couples.
Dr. Fields completed his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at IIT, and he holds two masters degrees, one in Educational Psychology from Loyola University and one in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University. Dr. Fields completed his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin.
Dr. Fields is available for professional presentations addressing such issues as: parental alienation, the clinical complexities of bipolarity, competency to stand trial and diminished mental capacity issues in the criminal forensic area and explanation and application psychological testing.

We started a few minutes late after I texted a reminder but overall the session was good. He allowed me to talk but probed with good questions and/or explanations of why he was asking about things. Setting up a few more sessions to learn more about myself and to set up goals I would like to solve for. Overall, was a pleasant first experience!

I am extremely disappointed because I was charged thru a phone app I never used before and I was not comfortable with, he asked me to pay right after the second visit, kinda demanding ("I would appreciate if you would pay me") -the first consultation was over the phone, the second in-person, at his office- and I did pay him right away but he charged me double. When I asked for an explanation for this charge he said he overcharged me by mistake and he will try to give the rest of my money back- it's been a month and I am still waiting for my money! It's absolutely ridiculous when you pick a therapist you're supposed to trust that person with your life. In this situation, there is no trust at all!

Dr. Fields is an empathetic listener, though he doesn't simply let you ramble on. He knows just when to insert a question or two, or when to keep you going. I appreciate this because it demonstrates a serious desire to understand where to meet you at your current state of mind and truly help.

For someone with Christian beliefs like myself, it is probably not a good idea to see a secular psychologist like this for advise on cognitive behavioral therapy where many times right is considered wrong and wrong is considered right.
