There was some confusion when I first booked the appointment through Zocdoc but the actual appointment with Dr. Hayman was great. I asked for his opinion on how to proceed with my knee issues and he gave me several options to think about. He clearly explained the problems with my knee and I felt comfortable with him and also moving forward with next steps.

I was always very active in sports. I played soccer at a very high level. About a week before I was to try out for the national soccer league I tore my ACL. I really liked my sports medicine doctor and appreciated both the care he gave and the relationship we had. I knew I wanted to be that doctor to my patients. I went to medical school knowing that I wanted to go into orthopedics and ended up doing a fellowship in Sports Medicine. I like that I can return people to their prior level of functioning. Unfortunately for me, medicine wasn't where it is today when I injured my knee and I was never able to play soccer at that level again. I have had 6 knee surgeries since that initial injury so I can easily relate to my patients.

Surgery to place an ankle tendon back where it belongs was unsuccessful because he was not aggressive enough. Channel deepening was needed. It just put it back in place and it popped back out after 3 months of being off my feet. Suffered nerve damage in my foot and loss of feeling for an unsuccessful operation. Walking on it still a couple of years later with the tendon still out of place. Should never have allowed him to operate. The lost three months would have been better without surgery. I would be walking on it still and not have nerve damage.
