Dr. Mitchell Latter grew up in Beachwood, Ohio, and received an early education and interest in the eye by working with his father, a well-known Cleveland optometrist, during his summer vacations in high school and college.
Dr. Latter received his undergraduate degree in Biology with honors at the University of Cincinnati, followed by his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He moved to California for his medical internship at the Long Beach VA Medical Center. He then spent his three-year residency in ophthalmology at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he was chief resident in 1983. He attended courses in the basic science of ophthalmology at Stanford University during his summers before and during residency, and also studied at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. After his residency, he was a Clinical Instructor at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center.
Dr. Latter is board certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the California Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, the California Medical Association, and the Los Angeles County Medical Association. He has been a long-standing volunteer for EyeCare America, a public service program of the Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and co-sponsored by the Knights Templar Eye Foundation, Inc.
Dr. Latter has been in practice for 30 years! After all this time, he still prides himself on spending time with his patients for a dedicated, personalized approach to the practice of ophthalmology and medicine.

Very pleased with him as a doctor. Very knowledgeable and takes his time with you. Was very happy except for the wait time. I had already filled out the paperwork and there was only one patient ahead of me and while the doctor waited for the patients eyes to dialect he still did not see me. I waited 45 minutes to be seen. Was not happy about that but other wise very pleased.

I really liked the service at this office. I was greeted and tended to as soon as I walked in. I did not have to wait long. I only waited about 10 minutes. I was processed quickly. The nurse told me that the doctor would be right with me. I expected to wait 20-30 minutes alone in the room, like many other doctors do, but I didn't have to wait at all. The doctor walked in and introduced himself. He took his time to examine me and diagnose what I had. He was very patient even though I was asking many questions. He explained everything thoroughly. Not only is the Doctor very professional and patient in explaining my eye issues, but his staff is also very professional, organized and cheerful and old fashioned nice!!
