Monica Stepherson is proud to be a member of Circle Medical, a digital-first, patient-focused experience that makes quality care more accessible than ever. She earned her Master’s in Nursing from Chamberlain University and has been a nurse practitioner for over 7 years.
I have enjoyed every minute of my career as a nurse practitioner. My passion lies in patient education and assisting patients in achieving their health and wellness goals, which in turn improves their quality of life. My goal is to address health on all levels—physical, mental, and emotional.
The role of the primary care provider is to listen to the patient’s needs in a therapeutic manner. Primary care providers must listen carefully to develop a treatment plan centered around the patient’s preferences. Through effective communication, a treatment plan can be initiated with the goal of improving patient outcomes.
I am married with four children and two grandchildren. I love to read, listen to music, travel with my family, and tend to my plants. Participating in activities that improve my mental health is essential; therefore, I meditate daily, write in my journal, and limit my exposure to social media.

Never showed up. I got an impersonal email roughly 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment time where I was informed that my appointment had been canceled.

I don't know this provider well but based on our brief interaction she was at first accusatory. She made a point of asking why I put my Medicaid insurance on the website along with my original insurance and claimed she would not be paid if my Medicaid is used. I tried to explain to her that the website allowed me to put both insurance but she insisted on her initial points. It wasn't until I suggested we cancel the appointment that she changed her tone, grinned and agreed. Very weird interaction and I would not want her caring over me from what was shown during this first impression. Also when searching for mental health providers or psychologists along with my insurance that they take, her services would be a result. I later found out that she doesn't provide any of these services as she is a primary care doctor. I hope this is fixed for future patients.

I did not have an appointment. The app wasn’t working. I finally connected with zoom after several attempts to get a password. After many attempts to call and email for assistance I was connected to the zoom site but the host did not allow me into zoom. I was extremely disappointed and frustrated. I sincerely hope that my insurance isn’t expected to pay for the service. It was no fault of mine or the doctor. I believe it was just the app wasn’t working.
