He is the Vice-chair of the Department of psychiatry and Director of Neuromodulation division (ECT & TMS) at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy, NJ since July, 2023. After receiving his medical degree, he did his Postdoctoral training in Headache and Neuromodulation at the University of Pennsylvania Philadelphia. He completed his residency in Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia. He is a clinical fellowship trained in Chronic Pain Management and Addiction Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania. He received his Neuromodulation training from Columbia University, NY-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Abbas joined HMH Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ in 2012 as Director of Addiction Medicine and ran the service for 5 years. He later joined the Neuromodulation division in 2017 and restarted the ECT and TMS services as the Director of Neuromodulation at JSUMC. He was also the first Director of Treatment Resistant Mood Clinic at Hope Tower, JSUMC and ran the service till July, 2023. He has been involved in multiple Investigator initiated and multi-Center research trials. He is author of more than 20 Peer review articles in esteemed journals. He has presented multiple addiction and neuromodulation related topics nationally and internationally. He teaches Addiction and Neuromodulation courses to the psychiatry residents and medical students.
