Dr. Nelson is the best! She is so easy to talk to and makes you feel incredibly comfortable during an uncomfortable appointment. I enjoy knowing as much as I possibly can about what's going on in my body and she always explains everything that I ask her to and answers any questions without rushing through anything. She is quick and efficient with her exams. I hate going to the gynecologist but I really do love seeing Dr. Nelson.
The front desk staff and nurses are all very nice and I've never waited more than 10 minutes to be taken back.
I would highly recommend Dr. Nelson to anybody!

Dr. Nancy Nelson is a graduate of Harvard University and the University of Minnesota Medical School. She completed her Ob/Gyn residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and joined About Women by Women in 2016. In addition to her Ob/Gyn training, she spent a year training in primary care. She enjoys taking care of women and forming longstanding relationships with her patients. She has special interests in obstetrics, adolescent health, contraception, and management of abnormal uterine bleeding.
Nancy lives in Brookline with her husband and son. She spends her free time experimenting with cooking and exploring New England with her family.

Dr. Nelson was incredibly kind. Gyno appointments terrify me and she kept me calm throughout my appointment. She spent 15 minutes just talking with me about my concerns before beginning the exam. She provided me with all resources I requested and refilled my birth control prescription right away.

I went for my woman’s exam (breast exam + Pap smear) and also with a concern of reoccurring yeast infections.
I also loved that she didn’t push birth control on me. I told dr Nancy that I got my copper IUD removed since it gave me cramps and heavy periods. She listened to me and told me if I’m interested in different forms we can go from there. As for the yeast infection she asked me to go back when it gets worse to send a sample to the lab since convenient treatments haven’t worked for me in the past (fluconazol, creams, Monistat, etc)

I have a fear of going to the OBGYN. For years, I've felt like my voice was silenced. As a WOC, who deals with a history of illnesses plaguing the women in my family, I knew the way to end the cycle is to take control of my health. I read through endless reviews on Zocdoc until I found Dr Nelson.
She looked me directly in the eyes with wariness and kindness during our first meeting. She spoke to me for over 15 minutes just about what I do for work, my concerns, and also recommended me see other specialists and provided their names. She answered ALL my questions.
I felt like a person. I felt like I mattered. She was culturally sensitive and also willing to speak to me about my future plans when it comes to having children when I'm ready. I am so happy to have found her and now I feel safe again.

I truly can't say enough about Dr. Nelson and her entire team. I had an usually difficult IUD insertion and Dr. Nelson, her nurse Patty, and the receptionist were so kind and helpful before, during, and after the whole process. Although going to the ob-gyn is always a bit of an awkward experience, Dr. Nelson's attentiveness and warm personality make the appointment enjoyable. From check in, to intake, and finally the exam I was treated with nothing but kindness and compassion. It's nice to feel like an established patient after only one visit! Definitely recommend

Dr. Nelson was wonderful. I came to her with a lot of anxiety from negative experiences with my previous doctor and she was super understanding of my concerns and took the time to listen to me and answer my questions. Great doctor! Gyn visits can be pretty nerve-wracking, but Dr. Nelson has a way of putting you at ease. She was kind, not at all forceful, pushy, or rude (something I've encountered with other doctors), and always explained what she was doing and her rationale. She takes the time to get to know you, listen to you, and ensures that you have several opportunities to ask her any questions or concerns you want to address. Office staff is very helpful and courteous, and the waiting room is just downright pleasant. I wish all my experiences going to the doctor were like this one.
The only thing I would recommend is emailing new patients a map/directions to the parking lot. It's a bit tricky to find. The office is on a hill and the entrance to the parking lot is hidden. The address is 30 Washington St, but you actually have to enter the lot for 47 Washington St, go all the way to the end, where you will find a gate to the correct parking lot for 30.

I love Doctor Nelson. She has a calm, knowledgeable demenor about her that helped ease any worry I had. I enjoyed/looked forward to my visits while pregnant. I was so lucky that she was the doctor on duty when I went into labor! Thank you!
