Dr. Nathan Hamburger is trained in a wide range of adult ophthalmology including routine examinations, refractions (eye glass prescriptions), cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment, diabetic eye care and many other conditions. Dr. Hamburger graduated medical school from Wayne State University. There he founded the Wayne State University School of Medicine chapter of Vision Detroit, an organization that provides vision and glaucoma screenings to the indigent. He completed his Opthalmology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit where he was Chief Resident. Dr. Hamburger has completed several medical missions. Most recently he performed cataract and pterygium surgeries as well as squamous cell carcinoma excisions in a village in Kenya.

Really appreciated how forthright and careful Dr. Hamburger was in explaining the pros and cons of LASIK and PRK, and also in talking me through the ins and outs of my personal situation and providing recommendations for better eye care. I'll definitely be going back!

The office is very nice, but the person who checked me in a the front desk was VERY rude. I almost felt like I was an inconvenience to her. Maybe she was having a bad day?? Overall the appointment was good and it went very quickly.

He didn't introduce himself or have a name tag ... there were other doctors and techs in the office taking patients back to the examining areas, so I wasn't sure who he actually was. I only found out from the tech who was doing part of the exam later during the appointment. His manner was kind of aloof and cool in the beginning but he was warmer and more engaging at the end of the appointment. He did seem quite competent, but I need at least two follow-up appointments to know if my problem has been completely resolved and my vision unchanged.

They were late seeing me which I wasn't happy about as I arrived early and told them I was in somewhat of a hurry, but Dr. Hamburger is great and I felt completely at ease around him and very comfortable with his knowledge and skill.
