Dr. Eylar earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas. He graduated with honors in 2007 from the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry.
He completed internships in ocular disease at the Kansas City VA Hospital and Kaneohe Marine Base in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
Upon graduation from optometry school, Dr. Eylar practiced in Augusta, Georgia for 5 years. He returned to BMVA in July 2012 where he had worked previously as a technician while an undergraduate at KU.
He is therapeutically certified, (i.e., trained and licensed to diagnose and treat eye disease), to manage eye problems such as glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration, infections and injuries. His clinical interests include the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease, specifically dry eye and glaucoma.
Dr. Eylar and his wife, Dr. Anne Eylar, have two children, Brooks and Everly. When he is not chasing them around, Dr. Eylar enjoys watching all sports and participating in various fitness activities.

Dr. Eylar was great, I have seen him a few times now. He tries to connect with his patients, for example he always asks me about my job and then today he asked me how the holidays were. Dr. Eylar asked if I wanted to look at glasses and I said that I did not want to and that was that. He did not try and push me to look at glasses. The one thing that I did not appreciate how the lady checking me out kept pushing me to buy glasses through them. Told her I get them from Warby Parker and that I am happy with getting them there. She would not let it go that I have not gotten glasses through them and that I use Warby Parker. She was trying to sell me on one of their packages. By the few minutes it took her to check me out I felt like I was getting some judgment from her for getting my glasses elsewhere and not through them. My mom goes there too and she had the same experience when checking out. They kept asking her if she wanted to look at glasses after telling them she did not want to look at any glasses that day. My dad has not had the same experience there. It seems like they push more for you to buy glasses if you are female.

There was an eye emergency right before my appointment, so I ended up waiting nearly 45 minutes. Now that obviously doesnt reflect a typical experience here. Once I got in, Kristen and Dr Eylar were fantastic. They spent tons of time with me, explained everything very well, and were just all around friendly people. I'll definitely be going back.
